Upholding Our Historic Aesthetic

Although 5G technology brings faster transmission speeds,  the 5G wavelengths are short and only have a range of about 1,000 feet. Comparatively 4G range is about 10 miles. This means that 5G technology requires the installation of thousands more cell towers, mid cell towers, pico cells and metro cells for what the cell industry calls “network densification”.  The bulky, black towers will be installed throughout downtown, clashing with the carefully curated historic aesthetic of Charleston.

Destroying the Beautiful Results of King St. Streetscape

The city invested nine years and $20.5 million dollars in the King Street streetscape "beautification" project with a spectacular beautification of King Street. Upgrades to aesthetic and planning included placing power lines underground and beautifying sidewalks with bluestone and granite curbs, among other improvements.

Investing so much in carefully elevating the beauty and preserving the historic aesthetic of the street, (with great success) only to allow obtrusive cell towers to be installed up and down the sidewalks ten years later is disastrous.
